We approach design as a transformative tool — a process that reveals and re-negotiates relationships between people, objects, and their environment.

STUDIO MORITZ PUTZIER is a multidisciplinary design studio based in Cologne, working at the intersection of product, people, and environment. With a strong focus on furniture and lighting design, the studio develops thoughtful, technically refined solutions for contemporary contexts.
Moritz Putzier is a graduate designer who lives and works in Cologne. Born in Munich, he studied Integrated Design at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen, where he developed an open, interdisciplinary, and reflective design approach that continues to shape his practice today. Already during his studies, he realized his first designs for series production in collaboration with partners from the furniture industry.
Since founding his studio in 2015, Moritz Putzier has been working for over ten years in the dynamic field between product, human experience, and environment. Shaping, questioning, and further developing these relationships through new perspectives lies at the core of his design practice as well as his teaching. He finds particular potential in reworking the familiar and gently questioning what surrounds us — using design to reveal new layers of meaning and unexpected possibilities. His projects range from furniture and lighting to user-centered industrial products and spatial concepts, all united by a playful attention to detail and a fascination for technical refinement. Design is understood as a mediating link between people and their surroundings.
His work has been recognized with several international design awards. In addition to his studio practice, Moritz Putzier teaches product design at the Hochschule der Bildenden Künste Saar, where he is responsible for the foundation program. His teaching is rooted in socially relevant questions, which students explore through research-based processes, translating them into both experimental and functionally applicable product concepts and systems.
